We will be hiring two (2) positions.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications on March 4, 2018. The posting will remain open until two successful candidates are identified and can be closed at any time after that date.

The continuation of this position is contingent upon research funding sources. Currently, funding has been identified for a period of one year from the date of hire.

Position Summary:

The Postdoctoral Fellow position supports a PI in designing, undertaking and analyzing information from laboratory-based investigations and experiments. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work collaboratively with the Principal Investigator to complete a directed research project. It prepares the individual to perform independent research and undertake the responsibilities of a faculty member or researcher.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Plans and conducts assigned and/or original research projects autonomously while working collectively with HCOM faculty, staff and students

-Maintains accurate records of research findings and the analysis of results.

-Prepares manuscripts for publication in collaboration with HCOM faculty, staff and students. Presents research findings at professional meetings.

-Mentors medical, graduate and undergraduate students as appropriate. Assists with formal teaching in areas of expertise.

-Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned.

Education, training, experience:

Minimum Requirements:

-Doctoral Degree - PhD or equivalent in related technical or scientific discipline

-Knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology techniques

-Knowledge of mammalian cell and tissue culture, microscopy and lipid handling

-Animal handling experience

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills

-Ability to develop manuscripts and deliver presentations

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience in adipose biology
